Freeport Football Contest Rules:

Rules for the Freeport Football Contest

1) Each Week contest participants will try to pick the Winning Team of scheduled NFL games utilizing the weekly point spreads posted on the Freeport Football Contest website. Playoff contest includes picking of the Over/Under for each game.

2) Contestants must submit their entry fee of 125 points prior to kickoff of week 5. Any contestant who has not submitted their entry fee by this deadline will be dropped from the contest at the discretion of board of directors. The 125 points entry fee is for the regular season contest, the playoff contest, and eliminator contest which will be split as follows per contestant: 75 points to the regular season prize fund, 25 points to the playoff prize fund, 10 points to the eliminator prize fund, 15 points per contestant for administration of contest and web hosting. Adjustments in the total points available for prize funds may be necessary to ensure compliance with Rule #17.

3) Only NFL games with a 1 p.m. EST or later kickoff held only on a Sunday and Monday will be utilized by this contest (games prior to 1 p.m. eastern kickoffs such as those held in London or Sat-reg season will be excluded).

4) The regular season contest is cumulative ending at the end of the NFL regular season. The contestant with the most winning picks at the end of the season is awarded 1st place, the contestant with the 2nd greatest number of correct picks is awarded 2nd place, the contestant with the 3rd greatest number of correct picks is awarded 3rd place and so forth. The contestant who ends up with the most losing picks is awarded the dubious Knows Nothing About Football Award.

5) The playoff contest is for NFL playoff games only and it is also cumulative (for scoring rules for the Playoff Contest see further below).

6) The eliminator contest begins with game one and continues until there is only one contestant remaining (for eliminator rules see further below).

7) The Prize Funds will be based on the total number of participants. Prizes will be distributed so that for every 3 contestants there will be at least 1 prize for the regular season & playoff contests. The eliminator is a winner take all contest. The Prize List will be the same as the previous contest year unless there is a change in number of contestants. If it is required to adjust the Prize List there will be a Prize List committee consisting of the Freeport Board Members who will submit to the contestants 2 prize lists to vote upon prior to week 16. Votes will be accepted up until the next week's kickoff of contest games. Final prize fund will be posted prior to or along with results of week 16.

8) Picks must be submitted to the Contest Administrator prior to the weekly schedule of contest games. Only those picks received prior to the first kickoff of contest games are considered valid (i.e. first game kicks off at 1pm eastern on Sunday, all picks must be received by 12:59 p.m. Sunday).

9) Picks may be submitted utilizing the Freeport Football Contest Website (preferred), Email, phone call to contest administrator (leave message), or given in written form to the contest administrator. All Picks made by each participant will be sent to all of the contestants each week.  Every attempt will be made to do this on game day prior to kickoff but due to scheduling issues and the allowance of contestants picks to be submitted up till game time this is not always possible and on those occasions all picks will be sent out by Mon night. Those weeks that all picks can not be sent prior to games played the Contest Administrator's picks will be sent prior to the week's games to all contestants.

10) If a contestant does not submit their picks prior to the kick off of contest games they will be assigned their “default” picks for all games.   Default Picks can be all home teams, all road teams, all favorites, or all underdogs. Each contestant at the beginning of the season will select their “default” picks.  If contestant default picks are not submitted they will be assigned "All Favorites" as their default picks. In the event you select "All Favorites" or "All Underdogs" as your defaults those games with an Even or No Line spread the default pick will be the home team. Default picks can be changed at anytime during the season.

11) If a tie results in any of the pay out positions at the conclusion of the season the corresponding prize funds will be split evenly. For example if there is a 2-way tie for 1st place the 1st place and 2nd place prize funds will be split evenly between the 2 contestants  and 2nd place would then default to 3rd place funds.

12) When submitting weekly picks include your Freeport Contest Name and E-mail address.   Only one submission per week is accepted. Revisions to picks will only be considered if received prior to the kickoff of the week's schedule. Revisions to contestants picks must be sent via email (freeportfootball@giddyupdevelopment.com) and are only deemed accepted if the contestant receives a reply receipt from the Contest Administrator. Revisions will not be accepted if received after the weekly email of all contestants picks has been sent out.

13) Weekly Winners, Spreads, Standings, Pick Submission forms, etc. will be posted on the Freeport Enterprises Web Site. Spreads and Standings will updated weekly by the Contest Administrator by Wednesday at 11:59 p.m. each week. In the event this is not possible for any reason such as server/computer issues all contestants will be notified by email by one of the Contest Board of Directors with all relevant information.   Spreads posted on the contest website are considered official and are those that will be used by this contest. Spreads are taken from a composite of published spreads from major spread publishing web sites. Games where the spread is "NL" are considered an even pick.

14) Any contest disputes, issues or questions that arise during the contest will be decided by Freeport Football Board of Directors. If any contestant disagrees with a decision of the Freeport Football Contest Administrator they may bring their dispute, issue, or question to a vote of all contestants in which a majority plus one is required to over rule the Freeport Football Contest Administrator.

15) Admission to the contest is limited to the discretion of the Contest Administrator and the Contest Board of Directors. Any contestants who have an individual they would like to add as a contestant must submit the request to the Contest Administrator. The number of contestants will not exceed 25 and no contestants can be added after the kickoff of the NFL week 1 schedule. A complete list of all Contestants will be sent to all Contestants prior to start of scheduled games for week 2 in the NFL.

16) The Freeport Football Contest Board of Directors is made up of Freeport Enterprises partners who are also contestants in the Freeport Football Contest. If the Freeport Football Contest Board of Directors ever becomes comprised of less than 5 members any contestant from the prior year's contest can be elected to the board by all returning contestants from the prior season.
